Our Story

CareerSet was founded in late 2018 by Chris Schaap and Rohan Mahtani with one clear goal: to help people secure their dream jobs. With backgrounds in software and a deep interest in artificial intelligence, we were early to see how AI would reshape recruitment and how job seekers would need better tools to keep up.

While employers were rapidly adopting automated screening and applicant tracking systems, most students and graduates were left navigating the process alone. CareerSet was one of the first companies in the UK to apply AI to employability, starting with instant CV reviews designed to give candidates clear, actionable feedback and help level the playing field.

In early 2019, we partnered with the University of York to launch our first CV feedback platform. From there, we expanded into a full suite of employability tools, adding CV targeting, cover letter feedback, LinkedIn optimisation, interview practice and career exploration so users could get support across every stage of their career journey.

Today, CareerSet works with over 100 education institutions worldwide and supports more than one million students, graduates and job seekers each year. Alongside universities and business schools, we also support employers and outplacement providers, helping professionals move confidently into their next role.
